NOTES AND SCRIPTURE REFERENCES Erskine Holt - 1/9/95 Importance of speaking in tongues emphasized. This is a special gift from God and is
the only gift that is for us individually to mature and edify. Communication directly with
the Lord is vital to our growth. There is much power in the heavenly tongues. Satan understands what we speak and his
powers can be broken through this language. Jude is a key book for today. Faith is the key and Jude 20 is the key to
anointing. Romans 16:24-end Mystery of God as revealed in Christ. This was done in degrees. Man couldn't take all
of them at once. The Adam/God relationship was not complete. God had more in mind even
from the beginning. The cross is an essential part of that mystery. Jesus had to come in
the flesh to show that God wanted fellowship. Psalm 132 God's divine purpose - to have a body He can inhabit; a place He can rest. We are to be that habitation. He will find rest in us as we find rest in Him. He is
sufficient for all -- this gives us rest. Grace, not law. New Testament, not Old. "Ye
are the temple." He does not desire to live with us (Old Testament),
but IN US. John 17 1 John 3:2-3 The baptism in the Holy Spirit is not for power, but to make us like him. Only God can
cause us to be holy. "Stir up the gifts" -- this is the means of distributing grace (the manifold
grace of God) God wants the church -- the body -- in operation, just the leaders. James 5:13-14 Three stages of the church: 1. Family 2. Functioning body - corporate expression 3. Habitation of God (Ephesians) We are to emanate God. Everything else is the build-up. He wants to be revealed to the
world. 1 John 2:20 We have the anointing. We don't know what to do with it. We have underestimated
the power and have not exercised faith. The Holy Spirit comes on us = power The Holy Spirit (anointing) = teaches us Pray in tongues - God does the rest. Hebrews 5:13-14 Proclamation is not its own fulfillment. Jesus must be given all the glory. We are not to take our "cut" from
Him. 1 John 2:12-14 Maturity should bring communion. Our desire should be to KNOW GOD and not seek
exploits. A relationship with Him will get the job done. We must do what we have to do -- stir up the gifts -- but the final analysis is that
God will get it done. Get acquainted with Him and He will get things done. There are
certain things that only God can do. F orsaking A ll I T rust H im |
